Salt makes your meal delicious but ... Beware

It's nothing but normal to have salt on your table, and to put some salt on your meal ? It's just making it even better... doesn't it ?

However, this little improvement can have severe consequences in the long term. I'm not saying you should not eat salt at all, but remember that the recommended daily quantity is the equivalent of a coffee spoon (6 grams).

Many studies demonstrated that "the upper limit is surpassed by more than 85 per cent of men aged 19 to 70, and 60 per cent of women", and "even young children consume to much salt, 77 per cent of children exceed the recommended daily limit."

Hypertension, heart attacks ...

Consuming too much salt results in visible and invisible consequences, the first one being high blood pressure. This itself has many consequences, ranging from errection trouble to heart attacks...

On the visible side, as sodium locks water in your body, consuming too much salt leads to weight gain via water retention. Sodium being stored just beneath the skin, it gives a puffy and bloated look.

The European Food Safety Authority's (EFSA) Panel on dietetic products, nutrition and allergies (NDA) has issued an opinion on the Tolerable Upper Intake Level of Sodium, warning that "salt increases blood pressure, a major risk factor in heart disease and premature death". Salt is essential to health but ...

If you have high sodium may I suggest you to stay away from salty snacks (overly processed foods) and DON'T sprinkle salt on your food, because some is already included in the food products you consume. So, substitute them for Fresh fruits and vegetables. And try to not add salt in your meal when eating.

You NEED salt (the recommended daily is 6 grams). Salt is essential to health, it help your body to function properly. Without enough Sodium, you can be exhausted, dehydrated, suffer hyperthyroidism and in the end die.
