My Favorite Cooking Tools - A Hub With French Words Within !
62Welcome to my Kitchen
So you want to know more about my favorite cooking tools ? Come in, but don't forget... it's MY kitcher. Don't turn it into a mess...
My favourite cooking tools - ustensiles in French, as French is the universal language of cooking - are a wok, a pan, a spoon familiy, and a small knife.
The Wok - The King of the Kitchen
At first, the wok (a.k.a. wok, in French). I use it to cook or fry vegetables, make sauces, meat, fish... anything. What makes it so good is its very deep and round shape, making the liquid stay at its very bottom. All the ingredients get concentrated there, and cook in the juice. And I also think its fun !
The Rest of The Court
At first, the wok (a.k.a. wok, in French). I use it to cook or fry vegetables, make sauces, meat, fish... anything. Secondly, I always use a pan (casserole in French, pronounce kasrol - silent e), to boil rice and pasta (riz - pronounce ree and pates - pronounce pat with a long a), sauces, and so on. Not as star-ish as my beloved wok, but always useful.
Now, the spoon family (cuillère in French, don't even try to pronounce it) Daddy Spoon, the big won, goes in the wok and Mamy Spoon lives in the casserole. They live apart to avoid mixing the flavours. Baby Spoon is however allowed by both of its parents, as I use it to tast. But never forget to clean it in between... Remember ? Don't mix the flavours !
Last but not least, the small knife. I've small hands, so small knives are better for me, minimizing the risk of cutting one of my fingers. Moreover... I'm afraid of big knives... I use my small knife (preferably with round end...mummy speaking) to cut vegetables, in small pieces that will perfectly cook in the round tummy of my wok, but also meat, fish, and everything else.
The Wok Master
